Save the Rock Stars believes that all rock stars have a right to an extravagant lifestyle of alcohol, illicit drugs and unprotected sex. But that's far from the experience of dozens of established artists, particularly Metallica. Instead, their careers are marred by the most deadly enemy ever to emerge from the electronic cesspool that is the Internet. We're talking, of course, about Napster, the so-called "innocent" software that allows any common idiot to become a dangerous criminal.

Save the Rock Stars is committed to narrowing the gap between the money these artists should be earning and the minute sums that Napster users take from them in the form of royalties. We start by listening to artists - learning about their careers, their philosophies and their politics. (Yes, even alcoholic headbangers have political opinions, believe it or not!) . We support practical projects which involve shutting down the scourge that is Napster. We also use our global experience and research to lobby for changes that will benefit all rock stars, including the up-and-coming artists that Napster claims to "help" through "free promotion".

Save the Rock Stars is the leading charity working to create a better world for rock stars. While it might not seem that a few internet users could impoverish your average rock performer, the simple fact of the matter is that artists deserve 100% of the money promised to them in their record contracts, and it is our quest to see that every penny of this money is delivered to them. Only then can capitalism truly flourish as it was meant to.
